With DVD labels working over the Shinya Tsukamoto back catalog like there's no tomorrow - Snake of June, Bullet Ballet and Gemini are all due in the coming months - I figured it was just a matter of time before Hiroku the Goblin made an appearance. I figured correctly, as Fangoria has just announced that they will be releasing the film May 10th.

For those not familiar with it Hiroku is a pretty major departure for Tsukamoto. It was a director for hire job and plays out like a delirious b grade monster flick complete with a high school built on a gateway to hell, spider demons decapitating teenagers to use the student's heads themselves, and Tsukamoto himself as a timid, demon hunting archeologist kitted out with home made gear that, well, it's home made. It's fluff, but it's quality fluff and I'm happy to see it find a home ...
