China Lion Serves Up CHONGQING HOT POT This April

No foolin', China Lion is bringing Yang Qing's mainland crime caper Chongqing Hot Pot to North America on 1 April, day-and-date with its Chinese release.

The film, which has its World Premiere on Monday night as opening film of the 40th Hong Kong International Film Festival, casts two of China's biggest stars - Chen Kun (Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate, Painted Skin: The Resurrection) and Bai Baihe (Monster Hunt, Love Is Not Blind) as former classmates who open a hot pot restaurant in a converted bunker, only to discover they can access the underground vault of the bank next door.

The film is the first feature from director Yang since 2009's One Night In Supermarket, which proved a notable indie hit with domestic audiences, and together with Ning Hao's Crazy Stone began a wave of successful contemporary crime movies in China that has only gained momentum in the years since.

Chongqing Hot Pot will be released in 13 US cities as well as 4 Canadian locations, and you can check out the official trailer below.
