Bin Laden Is Back! TERE BIN LADEN: DEAD OR ALIVE, The Terrorism Comedy You Didn't Know You Needed!
You probably don't remember 2010 Bollywood box office hit, Tere Bin Laden, but I do. That film starred Pakistani heartthrob Ali Zafar as a young TV news man looking to make his mark. He finds his meal ticket when he discovers a guy who looks just like the notorious Osama Bin Laden and launches a series of exclusive interviews with him, which go over like a lead balloon and hilarity follows. Mind you, this film was shot and released over a year before Bin Laden's death, making the choice to deliver a comedy based on the man that much ballsier. As ridiculous as the premise sounds, the film is actually hilarious, and Ali Zafar has gone on to bigger and brighter things, though mostly on the music side.

Six years later, Anurag Kashyap and Vikramarditya Motwane's Phantom Films are delivering a sequel to Tere Bin Laden titled Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive. The non-sequel spin off follows the assassination of the Al Qaeda leader and the effort from the U.S. President to prove that he's actually dead, since we were all expected to take it on faith that everything went down the way we were told. How do they do it? Simple! Wag the Dog-style, bring in a Hollywood producer to create the assassination and raid footage that we all demand as proof that Bin Laden is dead.

As you can imagine, not everything goes according to plan and hijinks ensue! Zafar is not featured in the film this time around, but we do get Manish Paul who recently starred in low-budget comedy thriller Mickey Virus, and lots of other character actors, including the mighty Piyush Mishra. I don't know about you guys, but I'm stoked for this. Not one, but TWO Bollywood terrorism comedies in less that 12 months (the other being Karan Anshuman's Bangistan).

Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive
opens February 19th.
