Dream Trip Turns Bad In Vietnamese Horror THE LOST TOUR
Sure, there are a lot of reasons to suggest that we're beyond the point of viewer fatigue with found footage horror at this point, that people are just plain tired of the format. There's certainly a vocal segment of the population that declares so at every available opportunity. And yet they keep being made, people keep seeing them, and from time to time you come across one that uses the format well and - once again - the format proves rumors of its demise to be greatly exaggerated. This is certainly the case in international markets where enthusiastic audiences are happy to find a local spin on the format.

Cue up Vietnamese effort The Lost Tour. Clearly aiming to strike a balance between local and international appeal this one tells the story of a young American man and his Vietnamese-American best friend headed to Saigon for a vacation whereupon they sign up for a backcountry tour that does not go as planned. Not at all.

While the trailer for this feels familiar for those who know the general found footage playbook, it's also quite effective, thanks in equal parts to cinematography and editing with a good grasp of what to show versus what to imply along with a pair of genuinely likeable leads. Take a look below.
