First Trailer For UK Microbudget Thriller MAKING UGLY
There have been a handful of projects in recent days that have tried to put an unusual spin on the serial killer and it would appear that upcoming UK production Making Ugly intends to throw its hat in that particular ring.
The budget limitations are quite clear in the first trailer but also clear is that writer-director Andrew Niblo has an interesting voice and he appears to be drawing strong performances out of his little known cast. Check the trailer below. The City is rotting. Decay seeps out from between each brick as weeds find sunlight through pavement cracks. A faceless mass does its best to navigate the mechanism as the little man shuts up shop for good. It's all going according to plan.
Now look this way for a while.
Neil kills women. Lots of women. Has done for years but only now she comes for him. Faceless beneath the plastic bag, taunting him with silent riddles. Why won't she just leave him alone? He'll take a drink to shake her off, forget she's there, lift the receiver and hope they pick up.
He'd have given you his name, but it was false. He'd have altered his accent too. You probably had a perfectly delightful conversation. He probably bought you a pint. You would have most likely discussed politics, literature, the state of modern art and that's probably the most you remember. But now your eyes are blurry and your head hurts. You can't move, because your hands are tied behind your back. As you regain focus you see him. Stark is staring at you. You've never been more terrified. In his right hand, an axe. In his left, a corkscrew. The way he sees it you've got a couple of options.
For Heather its the silent moments. The spaces between each sound. This is her happy place. In silence between the shouting and between each beep of the heart monitor. Each action and each thought. But Heather has been silent for far too long. Here is where she says enough.
