Danish Cartoon Panda Violence From The Director Of PRINCESS!
Before Denmark's Anders Morgenthaler exploded onto the international film scene with Princess - his ultra-violent, animated, anti-porn revenge film - he was a guy who drew cartoons. Dirty cartoons. Dirty, violent, absurdly funny cartoons.
Along with his partner Mikael Wulff, Morgenthaler created a hugely popular series of webcomics that spun off into an animated television series, merchandise and a global audience in multiple languages. And the reason was very simple: the Wulffmorgenthaler stuff is very, very funny.
Given the anger of Princess, the very dark overtones to the live action thriller Echo that followed, and the sweet-natured childrens' film (The Apple And The Worm) that followed it's been pretty easy to forget just how raunchy, unrepentantly crude and very, very funny he can be.
Yeah. Not so much any more.
Morgenthaler is once again working with Mikael Wulff on an animated television series now airing in Denmark. Titled Pandaerne it tells the tale of a family of panda bears. You know, those cute cuddly little bears. the sort of bears you don't much imagine having exhibitionist tendencies, ripping peoples arms off or vomiting in public. All of which they do in the brief trailer below. Is it too much to hope for an English version?
