Next On My Telugu Hit List, RANGA THE DONGA - THE STORY OF A THIEF
I will openly admit to having only the most rudimentary of education on Telugu films.  I haven't seen many, there are a lot of actors and directors I don't know, and it is extremely rare to see one in a theater with English subtitles.  Now that my admission is out of the way, I would like to direct your attention to the following film.

Ranga The Donga.

I have no idea what it means, but doesn't it just float off the tongue?  I have to admit, I was first intrigued at the lyricism of the title, but when I saw the trailer, I knew this was the next Telugu film I had to see.  I'm not sure what the film is about entirely, but it looks awesome.  There are some gangsters/tribal affiliations/local leaders, there are police, there is a woman who looks pretty damned mean with a scythe, there is kung fu, there are explosions, what's not to like?

There isn't any dialogue in the trailer, but that may be for the best, they let the explosions do the talking.  The film stars Srikanth, who I have never seen in a film, but judging by the size of his mustache, he must be really famous.  He appears to kick a lot of ass.  Fine by me.

I always have a hard time determining the tone of Indian films from trailers or promotional material.  They like to keep all plot details very secret before the film opens, and so we are left only with the promotional materials we are provided to try and make some sense of the film.  This one is a particular challenge.  Most of the promo images I was able to find come from the music release, and they look considerably happier than the trailer does, which can only mean one thing:  awesomely inappropriate dance numbers!

I hope someone is as excited about this one as I am.  Chances are that it will be terrible, but I will hope for the best and expect the worst.  Don't let me down, Ranga The Donga.
