Sho Aikawa is "Insect Detective Yoshimi Yoshida" in Sakichi Sato film
A couple weeks ago it was announced Sho Aikawa is getting together once again with writer/director Sakichi Sato for a live adaptation of the manga "Konchu Tantei Yoshida Yoshimi" ("Insect Detective Yoshimi Yoshida") by Daichi Aozora. The two worked together on Tokyo Zombie and Heibon Punch and indirectly on Miike's Gozu.

Now, unknown to myself, Sho Aikawa is a bug enthusiast, with a collection in insects at his home, specifically rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles. When he came across the manga last year he started looking into adapting it for the big screen. I wouldn't doubt if those were Sho's own beetles in those pictures.

I love the description that Kevin over at NipponCinema had for the manga a couple weeks ago,
'Assisted by a dog named Mugi with a 3rd-grade intelligence and a foul-mouthed parrot named Piitan, Detective Yoshida uses his ability to communicate with insects to solve various bug-related cases'. Nothing says a good time at the cinema than a foul-mouthed parrot!

A couple days ago a series of promotional stills came out. Find them after the break!
