An English-subtitled teaser trailer for Kiyoshi Sasabe's Sea Without Exit (Deguchi no nai umi) has been added to ShochikuFilms.com - the English-language website of Shochiku Co. Ltd. (Shôchiku K.K.).
As was previously reported here and there on ScreenAnarchy, the screenplay for Sea Without Exit (Deguchi no nai umi) was written by Yôji Yamada and Motofumi Tomikawa, based on the eponymous novel Deguchi no nai umi by Hideo Yokoyama. The movie's principal cast is as follows: Ebizô Ichikawa XI, Yûsuke Iseya, Juri Ueno, Shun Shioya, Teruyuki Kagawa, Yûko Kotegawa, and Tomokazu Miura.
Shochiku Co. Ltd. (Shôchiku K.K.) is scheduled to release Sea Without Exit theatrically in Japan on September 16th.

Introduction:
The movie is based on the novel "Deguchi no Nai Umi" by Hideo Yokoyama, the author of such blockbuster novels as Hanochi ("Half a Confession"). The screenplay will be written by Yoji Yamada, director and writer of epics such as "The Hidden Blade" and "The Twilight Samurai". In the director's chair is Kyoshi Sasabe, the young and energetic filmmaker who turned "Half a Confession" into a hit. Two of the most recognized filmmakers in modern Japanese cinema bring to the silver screen a brilliant film adaptation of this moving and compelling story. As wars still rage across the world sixty years after the end of the Second World War, this "What does it mean to live?"
Story:
Koji Namiki, a talented young pitcher, who had won the National High School Baseball Championships enters university, but soon afterwards injures his elbow. He and his teammates work hard to get back on the field placing all his hopes on a new slow-ball, "the magic pitch." However, the outbreak of WWII wipes out the baseball ambitions from everyone. They join the military and in the navy undergo the severe training that prepares them for death. Death awaits them in a "kaiten" (special attack submarine or "human torpedo") within the gloomy ocean depths, but Koji never gives up his dream of the "magic pitch."
