BLADE RUNNER 2049: Sequel's Title Sets a Date

If you like keeping up with these kind of things the title for the Blade Runner sequel has just been announced, Blade Runner 2049

We realize this does not say much other than set the sequel thirty years after the first film. Other than that everything is super top secret.

We already know that Harrison Ford is returning, so are Ridley Scott (in a producing role) and the first film's writer Hampton Fancher. Newcomers to the sequel are Ryan Gosling and what should excite everyone the most is Denis Villeneuve (ArrivalSicario, Prisoners) who has been wowing us all throughout his career.

What do you think of the title? I immediately thought of all those future universe spin off comics that started popping up in the early 90s (Spider-Man 2099 and Punisher 2099). Or how about even earlier in the 80s when PA flicks had a year tagged onto the title (Cherry 2000 or America 3000)? Strange what you think of the moment a title is announced.

Blade Runner 2049 will hit cinemas one year from today on October 6th, 2017. The above picture was from the Blade Runner 2049 Twitter account

Being a Brit the title recalls the comic 2000AD.
The real year 2000 was a crushing disappointment due to it.

Wait... 2049?
Is the Blade Runner a miner named Bounty Bob or something?!

Insanely STOKED for this one..

..just wonder why that fellow - second from left; is in the pic.

For me the title recalls Kar Wai's 2046. Hope it's as beautiful a picture.

don't get it. ...and; - i, am choosing to believe it's not an insult.
ftr. though.
- i'd LOVE to have the Scott of yore (...i.e - the one from the likes of Blade Runner..) as my pops.
..But - to have my paternal superior be that of Prometheus and The Counsellor .??

... .I would continually be stuffing his auto chock full of packing peanuts, ceran wrapping his auto Shut, and t.p.'ing his trees outside.. *'cause this one would have moved out of the house.

Cyberpunk 2077

I mean, come on - that's the most obvious one ;D

It's not an insult just low brow schoolboy humour such as this
I would love to see Mr Scott struggling to get into his saran wrapped car, you're right Scott has lost his mojo.

Still not seen that film another to add to the list.

The title doesn't strike me one way or the other. Nor does the 'need' for this film either really. I guess that's on me. Instead what I find funny is my reaction to the photo in the article. I adore Blade Runner like many others here no doubt, and yet what jumps out to me is the pairing of Villeneuve and Gosling. Somehow this is more exciting to me than the participation of Ford and Scott.

.can't say i'd ever seen that before..
here is a (VERY) random selection of of a gallon drum or so of my own humerous, and randumb (intentional misspelling) trivialities......
And. I'ts debatable; ..some of these Might be as you say, be low-brow and more ,.......simplistic in nature and audience...
i'll let you be the judge of that though.
(this one's more festive; Literally - and perhaps a bit on the nsfw side of things..) (and - apologize and i Hope it does NOT offend.)
(the nsfw could go either way on this one,'s a classic Dean Mrtn sketch though.)
(Benny Hill alert.)

~ there's some others (if you have time, - or the patience; for it) that i'd be tickled pink to send on your way....
...but i also don't wish to "try"/ or otherwise outwear your time and patience either..

2049: Original Blade Runner actors chasing each other with Octogenarian sticks and rolling wildly in wheelchairs..
