Choi Min-sik On The Hunt In THE TIGER: AN OLD HUNTER'S TALE Trailer
Last seen in Roaring Currents, the most successful Korean film of all time, and as the villain in Luc Besson's Lucy, Choi Min-sik returns to screens next month as a hunter tasked with taking down the last tiger on the Korean peninsula in period action-drama The Tiger: An Old Hunter's Tale.

From Park Hoon-jung, the director of slick gangster pic New World, this big budget tale is set towards the end of the Joseon dynasty, when Korea was under Japanese rule. Rather than a cruel tale of chasing down a rare, beautiful animal, the story is a patriotic one for Koreans, as a local hunter was assigned with the task of killing the beast, a symbol of courage and pride in the country, rather than letting it be mowed down by their military oppressors.

We only get a small glimpse of the tiger in action, but the below trailer hints at a dark tone and epic scale. Films opens in Korea on December 16th, a day ahead of the new Star Wars and the local mountaineering flick The Himalayas, in what will be a particularly competitive week.

Meanwhile, the film sold to an unnamed North American distributor during the American Film Market this month, so it should make its way stateside soon.
