Welcome Back, SAMURAI JACK!
Even though it has been nine years since the series ended, many people still fondly remember Samurai Jack from creator Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls) as one of the best shows ever on the Cartoon Network, and fans now have a good reason to rejoice!
A new comic published by IDW Publishing will be continuing the adventures of Jack the displaced samurai warrior and his archrival Aku the shape-shifting monster. It will be written by Jim Zub (Skullkickers) and illustrated by Andy Suriano (character designer for the original Samurai Jack series).
Zub said, "As a Jack and Genndy fan, I'm thrilled to be writing new stories that continue where the TV series left off. I'm channeling my inner samurai to deliver a fun action-packed ride each and every issue," and Suriano commented, "Returning to Samurai Jack is such a personal experience and labor of love for me. It's like stepping through a time portal back to characters I know as friends and a world that really launched my animation career."
Hopefully with the release of the comic and renewed interest in Samurai Jack, the long awaited feature film, which fans have been asking for since the TV series ended, will finally be made.
The first issue of the Samurai Jack comic will be available in October. It will feature a number of different covers, as seen in the gallery below.
