Check Out Mondo's 22 Comic Con Posters and New Studio Ghibli Limited Edition Vinyl
The last weekend was a busy one for Mondo fans and collectors attending San Diego Comic Con. The famous
Austin-based art boutique released just under two dozen different items during the Con, including
Martin Ansin's gorgeous posters for Elysium (that we covered here). Most of these prints were SDCC exclusives
or sold out at the event, so expect to toss out some big bucks on the secondary market if you're planning on
acquiring one or more.
The good news is that Mondo announced an online sale of their new vinyl release of Studio Ghibli Kokyo Kyokushu
featuring amazing work by the one and only Tyler Stout. These will go online Friday July 26 - at a random time,
as always - and shouldn't take too long to sell out. Here's the press release:
Mondo is thrilled to announce the limited edition vinyl release of a compilation of selections from five different Studio Ghibli films, featuring performances from the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.Studio Ghibli Kokyo Kyokushu will include selections from PRINCESS MONONOKE, SPIRITED AWAY, HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE, THE CAT RETURNS, & MY NEIGHBORS THE YAMADAS. This collaboration was an especially exciting project for Mondo to be able to release this album for the first time ever on vinyl. Studio Ghibli Kokyo Kyokushu will be available for purchase on July 26 at mondotees.com.There will be three different collectible versions of this album, each featuring a different piece of artwork from renowned Mondo artist, Tyler Stout, capturing elements from all five films across the Gatefold 2XLP packaging. One version, showcasing HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE, a with traditional Japanese Obi and all Japanese text, premiered at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con.Each album will also include two different colored vinyl as followed:HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE (Japanese Variant) - Purple & Pink vinylPRINCESS MONONOKE - Red & Blue vinylSPIRITED AWAY - Yellow & Green vinyl.
