Sydney Film Festival 2013 Opens Tomorrow With Indigenous Thriller MYSTERY ROAD
It's finally here - the much anticipated 60th Sydney Film Festival will be opening tomorrow! The Opening Night Film is talented Aussie filmmaker Ivan Sen's Mystery Road, "a suspenseful and intelligent mystery that uses the conventions of the Western and the police procedural in a subtle examination of the social and political context of a small town in the Australian Outback."
Festival Director Nashen Moodley told ScreenAnarchy in our interview that "Mystery Road is an extraordinary film by a true genius - Ivan Sen wrote, directed, shot, edited and scored the film - so it was a very simple decision to open the festival with the film. It is an important film in Ivan Sen's career, and an important film for Australian Cinema, so it is just the perfect fit to open our significant 60th edition."
Sen will be hitting the red carpet along with stars Aaron Pedersen and Hugo Weaving (who is also serving as Official Competition Jury President). The film's trailer has just been released and is embedded below.
The rest of the program, which includes a total of 192 films, is truly eclectic and has got something for everyone. You can check out the official festival website for program and ticketing information.
