Bombay has become Mumbai. With this and many other changes in the past two decades the population has grown to around 13 million. The directorial duo Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru use the city as their canvas to present the viewer three layers of a modern society in the city of Mumbai. Three intertwined stories from the wealthy upper class, middle class, and poor lower class. We follow them through the bustling metropolis as one by one they inevitably get lost in the noise.

"Noise" is the duo's fourth full film and will most likely be the vehicle providing them funding for their future projects. Directors Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru where both born in India and raised in the States. After gaining a small cult following with their 2004 film "Flavors" they worked on melding news clippings together for the script that would become "Noise". The film is based on 20 or so real stories form the city of Mumbai. The annual festival for Ganesha provides the timeline as well as the majority of the films literal noise.

Indian dreamboat Sendhil Ramamurthy who you might remember from his role as Mohinder Suresh in the American drama Heroes headlines the ensemble cast. Sendhil's character comes to the city looking to become a part of the new India. After growing up in the States he returns with bright hopes only to find corruption and deafening noise.

This is not the first film to use the hectic city of Mumbai as a backdrop and it will not be the last. The duo has a keen eye for the depths of the city as well and the brighter spots. The three different stories are woven together cynically with the common theme of Mumbai's noise and the different decisions people make when engulfed within it.

The Film is at its heart a comedy with Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru showing their impeccable timing. There is also many small bits of ironic wit. The duo has said that this film is anti-Bollywood. They look to be breaking new ground in Indian film not unlike their countrywoman Mira Nai and her soft powerful films. "Nosie" provides a good time and will leaving thinking about your own life for some time after the credits roll. This and other works by Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru are not to be missed.
