"The Dark Crystal" Sequel Penned and Ready To Go.

Todd IM'd this bit of news to me - so I'm gonna guess that the poor man has fallen asleep and given yours truly the duty of slapping this goodness up. And 'tis good news to be had...

Variety is either not saying much, or there simply isn't much to be said at this point except for a few big notables: No director so far, but, as to be expected, it is being kept very much a family affair. The Jim Henson Company, apparently celebrating 50 years at the grind, is at least giving it the working title of "The Power of the Dark Crystal" - while at the same time making me feel really old that the Henson's have been around that long...

Written by the same dude who wrote the first one and a large portion of the Muppet shows (David Odell), we're being told the movie, set many years after the first one, will be up in theatres by 2007.

A couple other little tidbits in there including one about an animated series sometime after the film, but, we'll worry about that later.
