Don't mess with a man in cut off's. Deadly Prey review.
The first time I heard of Deadly Prey was when Mack posted a youtube clip of it in these pages. Intrigued I started to snoop around and finally found it on a torrent site, which is the easiest way of getting it these days as it has no official DVD release. You could also hunt down a used copy of it on VHS if you prefer that way.

At the peak of the VHS boom filmmakers were making features left and right to satisfy the demands of the viewers and more often than not, quality was not the biggest concern of the parties involved but to get the product out there as quick as possible. This being the time where Stallone ruled the action genre with Rambo, the shelves of the video rentals were crammed with cheap knock off's but few contained the unintentional hilarity of this outrageous gem.

The story is "based" on the famous Richard Connell story "The Most Dangerous Game", which has been adapted countless times in countless films over the years and revolves around Mike Danton, a chiseled Vietnam veteran, who is kidnapped one morning while taking out the trash. The people behind his kidnapping are a group of mercenaries who are in need for a runner in their live exercise where no one escapes from alive. What they didn't realize is that Danton is a finely tuned killing machine skilled in jungle warfare and amazingly was trained by none other than the Colonel who heads the mercenary group. What a coinkidink! Too bad that the colonel can't train his new men as well he did Danton.
After being greased up and removed of all clothing other than his stylish jean cut off's Danton is sent in to the forrest and immediately starts disposing the inept soldiers. What follows are basically just random scenes of him killing mofos left and right in the most hilarious ways possible.
Now the colonel, tired of having his men slaughtered, sends his men to kidnap Danton's wife to use as bait but that only makes him angrier and you don't want to make a man in cut off's angry. Tobias Fünke would be proud.

Now usually, for me anyway, few "So bad it's good" films manage to keep you entertained all the way through but Deadly Prey is constantly bombarding you with scenes of incredible hilarity, from pathetic "action", inept acting and amazing dialog. This is a film that truly deserves it's moniker and needs to be championed. Seek it out!
