First Astounding Trailer for Spike Jonze's HER

We learned the first real insight into Spike Jonze's much-anticipated follow-up to Where the Wild Things Are when the director sat down with David O. Russell to discuss Her at LA Film Fest earlier this year. Now we are finally getting a real peek at some of the footage via this morning's trailer debut.

The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as a lonely writer who connects with an artificial intelligence voiced by Scarlett Johansson. Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, and Olivia Wilde co-star. Here's an official synopsis:

In the not so distant future, Theodore (Phoenix), a lonely writer purchases a newly developed operating system designed to meet the user's every needs. To Theodore's surprise, a romantic relationship develops between him and his operating system. This unconventional love story blends science fiction and romance in a sweet tale that explores the nature of love and the ways that technology isolates and connects us all.

The film drops November 20 from WB, but look for a big festival debut prior. My guess is NYFF but maybe that will push to AFI Fest (fingers crossed LA).

Good taste in women....I´m hoping Spike Jonze have a story tell too, trailer seems to indicate that.

Very nice trailer, I think, thanks Mr Aldrich.

Way to lead a film with a bunch of babes, Joaquin.

When I first read the synopsis, I thought this was going to be a new version of "Lars and the Realgirl." But the trailer seems interesting.

Will there be a bit near the halfway point where his friends stage an intervention and try to convince him she's just a simulation, pulling up responses from a database? Will she get deleted somehow, and while trying to restore her ends up with a different AI because his personality has changed too much from the beginning?

I like the scene of Theodore standing on a beach watching the sun set. Reminded me of the video Spike Jonze did for Daft Punk.

Trailer revealed a bit too much of the plot than I would like, and the music made it seem more melodramatic than the film probably is, but I like Spike Jones and the film's concept. I'm there.

    INCREDIBLE!

Weird....but appealing in so many ways, I can't say no.
