ScreenAnarchy was first to break the word that The Grudge
director Shimizu Takashi had landed the task of directing a new live action adaptation of the first two novels in the series which also spawned Miyazaki's beloved animation Kiki's Delivery Service
- the Miyazaki is based solely on the first novel - and now the first image from the film has arrived online via Japanese film site Eiga.com
The picture features young figure skater turned actor Koshiba Fuka in full costume as Kiki with what I presume is the bakery where she will live and work in the background behind her. It's certainly a colorful affair and I'm more than a little curious to see how Shimizu handles the move away from horror.
