Masaaki Tezuka's Sengoku Jieitai 1549 trailers

The Gomorrahizer mentioned this movie a couple times in passing with his posts about Jun'ya Satô's YAMATO, and I came across another posting about it over at ACDrifter, but if you haven't gone to the links then you're missing out on some great fun. Consider this your helpful nudge towards samurai vs. armored tank fun.

Sengoku Jieitai 1549 is a Toho remake of the 1979 Sonny Chiba sci-fi adventure film also called GI Samurai. The story revolves around a squad of Japanese soldiers who are transported to the 16th century in the middle of the Sengoku warring clan period of Japan. Yosuke Eguchi, Kyouka Suzuki, and Takeshi Kaga star in the Masaaki Tezuka [Godzilla against Mechagodzilla] helmed film.

Just the sheer mention of Sonny Chiba made me delve into the website to watch the trailers. It looks very silly but also a whole heckuva lot of fun. Go watch the trailers. Now.

Sengoku Jieitai 1549 will hit theaters in Japan on June 11th.
