Update on 'CHÔ' KOWAI HANASHI THE MOVIE: YAMI NO EIGASAI
The omnibus horror movie 'Chô' kowai hanashi the movie: yami no eigasai will have a limited-tariff theatrical release in Japan; it's scheduled for late-show screenings at the Shibuya Ciné la sept theater in Tokyo from July 2-8. As was previously reported here on ScreenAnarchy, the five stories in the movie are based on ones written by Yumeaki Hirayama, who also wrote the ones that Cursed ('Chô' kowai hanashi A: yami no karasu) and Tokyo Psycho (Tôkyô densetsu: ugomeku machi no kyôki) [see ScreenAnarchy article here] were based on. The five stories (w/ updated info on them) are as follows...
"Sugee! Aniki": directed by Hitoshi Ishikawa; screenplay by Yumeaki Hirayama and Ken'ichi Endô (supervising screenwriter); starring Ken'ichi Endô.
"'Yotsuya kaidan' de gozaru": directed by Kairakutei Black; starring Kairakutei Black, Sadanji Ichikawa IV, Yumika Hayashi, and Ryûji Yamamoto.
"Akuryô": directed by Kanji Tsuda; starring Kanji Tsuda, Hikohiko Sugiyama, and Maiko Asano.
"Shin'ya no tsuiraku": directed by Yumeaki Hirayama; starring Chika Fujimura and Aki Morita.
"Kafuka no yoru" (or "Kafka no yoru", if you prefer back-transliterations): directed by Miho Yabe; starring Miho Yabe, Fumiko Yabe (given name may be "Ayako", etc. - she apparently is Miho's mother), and Mika Yabe (a.k.a. Mika Kawai - she is Miho's younger sister).
Incidentally, Yumika Hayashi is also in Kei Nakata's Muhito: The Matchless Man (Muhito) and Shinpei Hayashiya's monster movie (kaijû eiga) Reigo vs. Yamato (Reigô tai Yamato). She played the mother in Tamakichi Anaru's Mother and Daughter: Spit-Swapping Seduction (Hahako (boshi) no daeki (shizuku)), and the gluttonous woman in Hisayasu Satô's Naked Blood (Naked blood: megyaku).
