Oscar Academy Movie Review: Secret in their eyes, a Argentinian movie from 2009!

When it comes to Crime Thriller, Argentina is one the most epic crime thriller movie making of all time, specially movies like "The Aura", "Carancho" and the Oscar winner "Secret in their eyes".

Story:

Benjamin Esposito (Ricardo Darin) and his boss and friend Irene Hastings (Soledad Villamil) are two legal counselors that investigate crimes with the police, in a 1970s Argentina when the government were poor and the authorities were corrupt or paid by mafia. One case becomes personal for Benjamin when he investigate a murder of a young girl named Liliana Coloto (Carla Quevedo) and when he relies the judge dropped the case, than he take action in his own hands. Eventually he finds the murderer and arrest him, only to be ordered to let him go due to his connections with mafia. 25 years later Benjamin has become an old man, retired and writing a novel of his life, the case of the young girl still hunts him, and he decide even though it's been 25 years, he will re-investigate and find justice once and for all.

Overall:

What else can I say of this epic and great movie? It's a masterpiece of movie making that we haven't seen in a long time. My only complain is it should have won more oscars then just for best foreign picture. The director Juan Jose Campanella is the Argentinian answer for James Cameron, his way of displaying the act and environmental background is spot on. The actor who play the role of the dead girls husband is named Pablo Rago, and if foreign pictures could also be awarded for best supporting actor it would be him, the way he acts of missing his wife is strong and believable. I watched it ten times and I can't find any flaws.

a great reward to a great movie, 10/10!
