THE RAID 2 Coming To U.S. Cinemas On March 28th!
Alright fans of cinema where hitting people in the face over and over again for the sake of entertainment is a great thing! You've been waiting to know when The Raid 2 Berandal is coming to a cinema near you. We have been sitting on this bit of news for a bit and we can finally reveal that date. Sony Pictures Classics and Stage 6 Films will be rolling out the highly anticipated sequel to Gareth Huw Evans international smash hit, The Raid Redemption, on March 28th. The film will have its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival where you can expect a quick response from our team on the ground during the fest.

"The Raid 2″ starts where the first film ended, with Uwais' character going undercover and infiltrating the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.

Expect the same basic release schedule. They'll start with the major markets first, watch the numbers, then roll out to more and more cities as the weeks progress. Do not fret if it does not come to you right away because they tried this approach last year and the film blew up and they basically threw away the schedule and tossed The Raid in all the cinemas after only a couple weeks.

This is going to be huge!!!

I drove out for the first installment, most definitely going to do so again.

Cool, i hear the movie clocks in at arround 148min, so it's going to be epic, just waiting for trailer number 2?

Todd BrownDecember 23, 2013 6:42 PM

That is correct, yes, and the full trailer is being buffed and polished as I type. Actually, there are at least two being prepped as I type ... I've seen rough versions for the Indonesian release plus another that Sony is putting together for US. Not sure when either is being released.

Zero LastimosaDecember 23, 2013 8:14 PM

Will Mike Shinoda be doing the score on this one?

Vita AzizahDecember 23, 2013 9:27 PM

Not this one, only Joe Trapanese and Indonesians

Zero LastimosaDecember 23, 2013 9:29 PM

I see. Thanks!

This might help clarify

Todd BrownDecember 24, 2013 9:12 AM

There are no plans to, though it hasn't been seen by the MPAA yet. Not sure on VOD date.

owenDecember 24, 2013 10:38 AM

i will never forget watching the first one on a rainy morning at jameson film festival dublin one of my all time greatest cinema experiences

Todd BrownDecember 24, 2013 2:29 PM

It's the same Indonesian guys who did the Indonesian score on the first one. Evans was telling the truth when he said in the press that he liked elements of both and couldn't choose a favorite between them so this time out he merged the two teams. There should be something special in the closing credits that I don't think I'm allowed to talk about yet, too ...
