[UPDATE: TRAILER!] First Look At Shah Rukh Khan/Farhan Akhtar's DON 2.
[Trailer is live!]

Today Reliance Big Pictures released the first teaser poster for Shah Rukh Khan's second planned blockbuster of 2011, Don 2.  The film is the sequel to 2006's massive success, and damned fine action film, Don, which was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 1978 gangster film of the same name.  This film will feature much of the supporting cast of the 2006 version returning, including former Miss World Priyanka Chopra (Saat Khoon Maaf), Om Puri (East is East), and Boman Irani (Veer-Zaara). In addition, the new film is adding Kunal Kapoor and Lara Dutta in supporting roles with three-thumbed heartthrob (yes I will mention them every time I post his name) Hrithik Roshan in a cameo.

Don 2 is currently scheduled to release on December 23rd, 2011, which places it only two months after the opening of SRK's Ra. OneDon 2 is expected to fall in Ra. One's shadow, but the first Don was a supremely entertaining film, and the director of both, Farhan Akhtar, has a much stronger track record than Anubhav Sinha of Ra. One at this point.  Akhtar's Dil Chata Hai and the first Don were both huge hits, and Akhtar knows what he's doing.  Ra. One is certainly looking like it is going to be a game changer for Sinha and Bollywood in general, though, and I am very excited to see what he does.

Amitabh Bachchan's Don is one of the most referenced and remade films in India.  Shortly after Big B's version, the Tamil version, Billa, starring Rajnikanth, appeared and was a huge hit. In addition to that, there has also been a recent Tamil remake of the Tamil original, and a Telugu remake of the Tamil remake.  Getting dizzy yet? Well, there's also a sequel coming to the Tamil remake of the original Tamil remake of the Amitabh Bachchan original, titled, appropriately, Billa 2.

Okay, you can untangle your brain now.  The first theatrical trailer is due to be attached to Zindagi Ne Milegi Dobara this Friday, which means it will be online tomorrow or Friday, and I'll share that as soon as it goes live, but in the mean time, check out my favorite song and dance from the original Don, the most back-flippinest movie of all time (it's worth watching for the jolly fat dancer alone):
