It's arguably the highest award given to genre film in the world and Pascal Laugier's controversial horror picture Martyrs has just taken it. It is the prestigious Melies D'Or, the annual award granted by the European Federation of Fantastic Film Festivals to the film judged the best of the annual prize winners at EFFF accredited festivals by a panel of expert judges.
