Von Trier Preparing Two Versions Of NYMPHOMANIAC
Regardless of whether you are feeling just a little bit sexy or a whole lot sexy Lars Von Trier will have a version of his upcoming Nymphomaniac just for you.

Von Trier, it should be noted, was once the co-owner of a porn production label and has included graphic sexual intercourse in his films twice before - Antichrist and The Idiots both feature full penetration shots performed by body doubles culled from the porn company stable - so anyone who may have ever though the man would shy away from sexual content in a movie titled Nymphomaniac should put that thought aside immediately. The only real question to ask is how much will be there.

And the answer is both 'quite a lot' and 'not so much'. Von Trier has announced that he is creating two versions of the new film, which tracks the erotic life from infancy through middle age to cater to different audiences and, presumably, theater owners. There will be a full, hardcore cut of the film as well as a softer version that will presumably be tailored to rub right up to the edge of what theaters will show without quite crossing that line.

It's a smart business decision on Von Trier's part - no surprise considering that he co-owns his own production company and needs to keep the lights on somehow - and one that will allow him to stoke the controversy that he thrives upon while also making the movie that he wants. Beyond the novelty of the two cuts, though, I must say that I'm a little concerned that Von Trier is talking about tracking the 'erotic life' of someone from infancy. How erotic does he find most infants? I shudder to consider the possibilities ...
