ScreenAnarchy Exclusive! A First Look at Russian Thriller Zhest (Junk)!

Back when I was scrounging up details on upcoming Russian sci-fi flick Paragraph 78 I had the producer of that film tell me about another he was working on, serial killer thriller Zhest which has a young psychologist on the trail of a mentally ill killer. It's going out under the English title of Junk but the way I've had it explained to me the title could also be reasonably translated as Scrap.

Now, I will confess to having a degree of skepticism at first. This is ground that has been covered before, and covered very well. If you're going to go there you'd best be prepared to go hard. The first stills that came out were decent but they didn't prepare me for what was to come. This morning I woke to an email from the producer steering me to the just completed trailer and this thing looks fantastic - a big, burly popcorn flick with a nasty edge. Beautifully shot with some fantastic set pieces, flaming cars and crazy people wielding axes. How much more can you ask for, really?
