Classic Movie Review: Extreme Game, a Thai action comedy movie from 1996!
To mix action and comedy together is difficult, as an audience one cannot know if one should laugh or take the story seriously, such as "Cool World" from 1992, "The Last Action Hero" from 1993, or any Jackie Chan movie.
but there are those who knows how to make a serious movie with some comic relief, such as the classic "Karate Kid" movies and very much comedy with some excitement in it like the "Police Academy" movie series.
However in the Thai movie "Extreme Game" it is probably one the most confused movies from the 90s, with mix of 80s action style and Home Alone comedy.
Story:
A group of teens are enjoying themselves, playing paint ball. Their female leader (Suttida Kasemsan Na Ayutthaya) is tired of hanging out in the ordinary places and suggest one of the new buildings such as their uncles museum. At the same time, a group of convicts escape from the prison, their leader (Thanaphong Klaaiphongphan) has a score to settle with the uncle. Both the paint ball team and the convict team are heading to the new building. The paint ball team is just going there for a little fun but the convict team wants to take revenge and blow the building up. Soon both team relies that their not alone, can the paint ball team defeat the convict team with just paint balls?
Overall:
The plot that I just told you sounds interesting and exiting when you read it, but once you see the film you relies it's not gonna be that exited. Most of the scenes are played for giggles and the executions are on the same level as the "3 ninja kids" movies. But if it was intended to be that kind of movie then I suppose it's ok.
I reward it with 5/10, it's for those who love home alone comedy.
