The Russo Brothers Invite You to 'Come Out And Play' With Their TV Adaptation of Cult Classic THE WARRIORS

Deadline has just reported that Captain America directors Anthony and Joe Russo are going to adapt Walter Hill's 1979 cult classic film The Warriors into a one-hour drama series for Paramount and Hulu. Paramount released the original film.

The Russo’s will draw from Hill's film and the original source, Sol Yurick's novel from 1965. They will adapt those materials together with newcomer Frank Baldwin. No one is attached to direct the series yet.

The original film is a bonafide classic.

In the film the leader of the Gramercy Riffs, Cyrus, calls all the gangs together to call for a truce and create an alliance that will control the city.

Can you dig it?

He is shot and murdered by a member of the Rogues who places blame on the Warriors. As the Warriors flee back to Coney Island a hit has been called out on them and the other gangs from New York - the Baseball Furies, the Lizzies, the Orphans to name some - come after them as they travel home.

It was good, clean, honest fun. Chortle. So, how does this make fans of the original film feel? The Russo Brothers have done some pretty good things with those Captain America films. Does that instill any confidence? Let us know below what you think.
