OPPAM Trailer: Priyadarshan and Mohanlal Together Again!

Veteran Director Priyadarshan and Complete Actor Mohanlal have worked together on at least forty films over the years -- Mohanlal even did a turn with a cameo in the director's 2012 Hindi film Tezz

The two have been part of some of Malayalam cinema's most memorable comedies -- films like Boeing Boeing (1985),  Akkare Akkare Akkare (1990) and Thenmavin Kombath (1994) are considered classics, though more recent outings like 2011's Oru Marubhoomikkadha have fared less well.

This Onam though, they're hoping to recreate some of that earlier magic with Oppam ("Together"), in which Mohanlal brings his considerable acting skill and comedic talent to the role of a blind man who is wrongly accused of a murder, and who must work to clear himself of the charge.

One of the most exciting things about the Oppam trailer is that Priyadarshan got up-and-coming ace director Alphonse Puthren to edit it.  Puthren's film Premam ("Love") set all kinds of records in 2015, and he's a multi-talented force who writes, directs and edits his own work.  The trailer shows his typical attention to detail in order to create interest and suspense -- here's hoping the whole film lives up to the trailer's promise.

Oppam is set to release in Kerala in September for the Onam festival season.
