THE BALLAD OF IMMORTAL JOE: Because What The World Needs Is More Rhyming Cowboy Animation. Really.
If you, like me, find inherent wonder in the existence of an animated short film about cowboys who speak only in rhyme while managing to work both bourbon and rye into the conversation, well hey. Hector Herrera's The Ballad Of Immortal Joe is the animated rhyming cowboy short for you. Really.

A two-fisted tale of ill-fated romance and six-gun justice gets a supernatural twist in this animated homage to the cowboy poetry of Robert W. Service. Kenneth Welsh's lusty narration and The Sadies' dead-cool score give extra colour to the vivid vistas of lonesome prairies and desperate men.
Herrera's work has been featured in these pages before and his latest easily lives up to the high standard for quality he has set himself. Check out the trailer below.
