KL GANGSTER 2 Wants To Be Malaysia's Biggest, Glossiest Action Film Ever. And The Trailer Says They've Succeeded.
There was a time not so long ago when - buoyed by the massive success of Syamsul Yusof's KL Gangster - that producers talked boldly in public about how they intended to cast Thai martial arts star Tony Jaa in the sequel. That never happened but the point was made: KL Gangster had opened its backers' eyes to the potential that a well made action film has to draw audiences both at home and abroad and their goals were larger than just the domestic audience.

Well, Yusof and company are back with that promised sequel and it looks bigger in every way than the original. If there has ever been a more polished, larger scale action picture made in Malaysia then I certainly have no idea what it may be and given the film's 18+ rating they're certainly not holding back on the violence, either.

You want gun play, car chases and some high impact hand to hand combat? This has got all of that and more. Take a look below. Aaron Aziz, Syamsul Yusof, Adi Putra and Zizan Lawak star.

Interesting. I'd written off KL Gangster 1 after reading mostly negative responses to those few US/UK folks who'd seen it and written about it. Was it truly that big of a success? Even here in the West? I'll have to check it out now.

I don't know about in the west, but it was HUGE in Malaysia. One of the most successful Malaysian films ever made.

Cool, well, I'll have to give it a go, then. The trailer to KL2 does look pretty damn spiffy.

Yes, the movie is well received and the top grossing film in Malaysia. The production and the director are very good and talented to make the movie looks "Real"... with no CGI and heavily depend on stunts because of the budget constraints. If you can understand the language spoken (Malay language) the movie even becomes much more entertaining to watch. Yeah, I bet everyone in Malaysia really looking forward to see this movie.
