NYC Happenings: Swede It! Max von Sydow Retro. At BAM
Well, if you're like me, that headline is enough to get yer butt in the seat for multiple shows, but if you need to know more here's the lowdown:

From November 27 - December 14 our buddies at BAMcinématek will screen 22 films that feature the noble knight himself (and yes, that's included). That's one film per weekday, and two on the weekends, so by all means make this a part of your daily routine. But if you have a life and say just want to catch a couple flicks... let's see... Say you want to see Mr von Sydow in an Ingmar Bergman flick? Well of course they'll be screening some of those... There's Bergman's look at the mighty engine of war  and the propaganda machine in Shame, his almost-horror-its-better-than-horror The Hour Of The Wolf, The Magician, his love letter to Kurosawa The Virgin Spring, and oh yes The Seventh Seal. In for something lighter? What about Canadian comedy classic Strange Brew. Because, yes, Max von Sydow is in that. Say you want epic? Well there's Conan The Barbarian and Dune. What about goofy and epic? Flash Gordon! Then there's Jan Troell's The Emigrants and its sequel The New Land. There's even a Bond film (that'd be Never Say Never Again).

There's so much von Sydow to go around that I just can't name them all here, so head on over to BAM's full schedule and get yer Swede on. Oh, and guess what, all 22 films are being screened in 35mm.
