Subtitled Final Trailer For PAINTED SKIN 2: THE RESURRECTION
The final trailer for Painted Skin 2: The Resurrection has just arrived! At the helm of the supernatural fantasy sequel is The Butcher, The Chef And The Swordsman director Wuershan. As you probably know already, Zhou Xun, Zhao Wei and Chen Kun all return, but Donnie Yen does not.

Official synopsis: According to demon lore, it takes hundreds of years to attain human form. Even then, lacking a human heart, a demon cannot experience the true pains and passions of existence. However, there is a legend that if a pure human heart is freely offered to a demon, it can become a mortal and experience true life.

Embedded below is the trailer that comes with English subtitles.

(In my part of the world, the film will be released by China Lion Film in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane cinemas on June 28.)

  • hhdang1989

The movie just premiered at the Shanghai Film Festival and I just read two reviews, one very positive and one mixed, leaning towards the positive.

And I'm a big fan of the first "Painted Skin", so I'm excited! Looking forward to the sequel.

Can't get enough of Zhou Xun. She has to be one of the most photogenic actors on earth. And a marvelous thespian.

The Wachowskis better use her well for Cloud Atlas.

  • Hugo Ozman

Thanks, Jakob Liam. Zhou Xun is certainly photogenic, and so is Zhao Wei. Pretty cast + Pretty visual effects = Pretty film. Hope it's also a great film!

  • Cipherpunk

Zhou Xun + Zhao Wei = WIN, as already stated. It will also be cool to see something new from the director of the fun but flawed "The butcher, the chef and the swordsman". More than that, well - it looks INSANELY pretty. I´m so there.

  • Hugo Ozman

Thanks, Cipherpunk. It sure is pretty. I'm glad so many of us are there together.

  • HKFanatic

Thanks for posting this. I wasn't crazy about Wuershan's first film but this looks, yeah, visually stunning - to say the least.

  • Hugo Ozman

You're welcome, HKFanatic. Like you, I wasn't blown away by Butcher, but Painted Skin 2 looks promising!

  • Cuttermaran

The trailer suggests like there's more drama then action. I hope it's better then the first. The ladies are fine but Chen Kun is the man.

  • Hugo Ozman

Thanks, Cuttermaran. The cast is certainly strong, and hopefully the film will find the balance between drama and action.

  • Qinlong

I can't wait. Zhou Xun + Zhao Wei = no brainer, plus this looks visually crazy, it makes Tarsem's films look like 70's BBC TV movies.

  • Hugo Ozman

Thanks, Qinlong. Yeah, the trailer certainly is impressive visually.
