Rooney Mara Replacing Carey Mulligan In Upcoming Spike Jonze Picture
Oscar nominated star of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Rooney Mara is a very busy girl. Having recently performed opposite Ryan Gosling in Terrence Malick's Lawless and about to move on to Steven Soderbergh's The Bitter Pill, Mara is now in final negotiations to also join Spike Jonze's untitled upcoming comedy with Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Samantha Morton.

Mara is to take over the role previously held by Carey Mulligan, who has had to drop out of the project due to scheduling issues. Details of the part are unknown but with the story revolving around Phoenix playing a man who has fallen in love with the voice of a computer there are all sorts of directions they could push this.

No production date has been set yet but if Mara signs on the expectation is that this would move forward as soon as she has wrapped work on the Soderbergh picture.
