Siren Visual releases WHEN THEY CRY season 2!
Coming back from the Christmas holidays I find this piece of news in my mailbox and DAMN am I happy about this!

Earlier this year Kwenton and I reviewed the first season of eerie and very violent anime series "When They Cry", both of us liking it a lot (link) but we were dismayed to discover that the story stopped just shy of the grand reveal about what was actually taking place. The series is about a very creepy string of murders in a rural village, culminating in a terrible event in 1983. The only problem is that this story is told in several separate story-arcs, each of which contradicts the others totally. Different people die and different people turn murderous, and even the cause of the murders changes. But just when it is revealed that all these stories actually still can fit together...
... season one stops. Grrr.

The first season of "When They Cry" had itself a troubled international release in the past; English-friendly versions had been out of print and even out of publishing rights for a while until Siren Visual picked it up for an Australian release in 2011. Season two, however, has never even been released outside of Japan, and never at all in any English-friendly version. People who bought season one have now been waiting for several years already for the conclusion.

But that wait finally ends this March: Siren Visual will exclusively release the second season as two DVD-boxsets in Australia and New Zealand. These will be coded region 4 and only feature English subs, no English dub. To reflect this the series will be published under its original title "Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai". Anyway, be warned: whoever tries to get between me and these discs upon release will have nails hammered through all of their finger joints!
