HOLD ON TIGHT to WIN a double pass to the Korean Film Festival In Australia (Melbourne)
Folks, prepare yourself! The KOFFIA starts this week!

Hold on tight for an excellent weekend and beyond, filled with genre delights the likes of pulse pounding Korean blockbusters (The Man From Nowhere, Secret Reunion) and heart warming inspirational tales (Bunt, A Barefoot Dream) as well as something different (the award winning documentary Earth's Women) and an absolute classic (Chan-wook Park's JSA - on the big screen!).

These great films contribute to the total of eight films that will be gracing the ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) from 10-13th of September.

To get your hands on one of four brilliant double passes that will be express posted for your viewing pleasure, just state your favourite Korean film and in 25 words or less why. Winning entries will be notified in comments below...

My favourite has to be Joint Security Area, because it's funny, sad and has a lot to say about the divide keeping the country apart.

The Host. It's seamless mix of comedy, horror, adventure, drama and politics is unmatched. I cared a lot about all the characters, as dysfunctional as they were.

Old Boy. The most inventive revenge ever conceived. Quality Korean black humour, stylish violence, and an ending so shocking - Hollywood would never dare remake it.

Firstly - Glorious is the day that Twitchfilm - who I have been reading for many a year, has tickets for a competition in melbourne. Priceless. Anyways...

The Good, the Bad, the Weird
The action is unrelenting as they pursue each other, the stunts are intense – love trivia on IMDB - Lee broke his leg, and Jung his arm, falling off horses. And I love that director Kin Je-Woon calls his movie a ‘kimchi western’.

Except they are.

Antique Bakery. Could be very funny at times, but also brought up some interesting, mostly relevant issues while still not getting too heavy.

Song Kang-ho was unscathed? He's as invincible as in the film!

Another vote for the kimchi western. The Good, the Bad and the Weird is a sentimental favourite. The lunacy, Lee Byung-Hun's torso (I was brow-beaten to say that) and the homage to "The In-Laws". Serpentine!

My favourite Korean movie is 'Christmas in August' directed by Hur Jin-ho. It is a very touching movie without being overly sentimental. Almost every scene is poignant in some way and the main characters are so likeable you just want everything to work out for them. Truly a work of art.
