New HISSS Trailer Doesn't Disappoint!
It has been almost a year and a half since we've posted anything about Jennifer Lynch's international feature Hisss, starring Bollywood hottie Mallika Sherawat.  ScreenAnarchy readers may remember her best for her role in Jackie Chan's reincarnation epic, The Myth.  In the interim, there have been a few tiny pieces of news squirting out of that ravenous beast known as the Indian film press.  Most notably, a few weeks back, Mallika posted the promo photo at left to her facebook and twitter accounts with the question, "Is this too much?"  Apparently it nearly was, as the Indian press had a field day with Mallika's "topless photo".  For a people who invented the Kama Sutra and Tantric sex, some South Asians sure can be prudish, obviously not all of them...

Yesterday, the international trailer for Hisss hit the internet, and it looks goooood!  In addition to the beauty of Sherawat, the film features one of my favorite Indian actors, Irrfan, or Irfan Khan as he was credited in Slumdog Millionaire and Mira Nair's The Namesake.  He is one to look out for, far from the stereotypical Bollywood "Hero", I think he could really break hard into international cinema if he chose to.  Not to mention the fact that the SFX work is courtesy of Robert Kurtzman, formerly of KNB Effects group, who are responsible for some of the gooiest films of the 80's, 90's, and 2000's.  It all seems to be coming together well, and the release is scheduled for this October, finally!  Attached below you'll find the trailer, watch it quickly!  It seems to be getting plucked from the internet at an alarming rate!

October release in the US or October in India?

All the info on that is somewhat vague, honestly, I'm not sure, however that date came from Indian news outlets, so I'd guess India, even though I found another Indian site listing a December 24th release date. I'll post a more concrete date when I get one.

Now that is an efficiently cut trailer - straight to the point!

Would you say Josh there is an outside chance of the film releasing in the US around its Indian run whatever that may end up being. I've seen Indian films drop into certain regional markets stateside seemingly over night.

I would say so. I know that most US metropolitan areas have Indian theaters which open films simultaneously with their release in India. I can't find who the distributor is in the US, it will ultimately be up to them. Even big Holly/Bolly co-productions like Chandni Chowk to China are released on the same worldwide release model.

Needs more weirdness.

I kind of miss "Lair of the White Worm".

What is Ken Russell doing these days?

Is it somewhat like Sssssss? I mean the 1973 film I once saw on TV ...

I prefer the original trailer over this one. I've been checking up on the film every once in a while since I first saw it. Good to see some news on it.
