MAGADHEERA Wins Big At National Awards and South Scope Cine Awards!
Magadheera, one of the highest grossing Telugu films of all time, has just come up big at two different Indian awards shows!  You may remember the film from its jeep-crashes-into-helicopter/flying-machete-dismemberment appearance as the first of the ScreenAnarchy Top Kills series, but it was so much more to South Asians all over the world.  The director, S.S. Rajamouli, is widely regarded as the finest director working in Telugu language films.  The star, Ram Charan Teja, is yet another in the sea of Indian film scions, in this case, he is the son of the biggest star of modern Tollywood, Chiranjeevi, who makes a brief appearance in the video below.  This was a major blockbuster.  While it was heckled on "The Soup" by no less than Robert Rodriguez on a press tour for Machete, this is high tech stuff for South India.

At the recent South Scope Cine Awards in Hyderabad, Magadheera and its cast and crew cleaned up, taking home:

Best Film Magadheera Magadheera
Best Actor Ram Charan Teja Magadheera
Best Director Rajamouli Magadheera
Best Male Playback Singer Anuj Gurwara Magadheera (Panchadara Bomma)
Best Lyricist Chandrabose Magadheera (Panchadara Bomma)
Best Cinematographer Senthil Kumar Magadheera

While at the 57th National Film Awards in Mumbai, while includes the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali film industries, it took home the prizes for Best Special Effects and Best Choreography.

In addition to these big prizes, it also won big at the Filmfare Awards South, coming home with the following awards in the Telugu category:

Best Film Allu Aravind
Best Director S. S. Rajamouli
Best Actor Ram Charan Teja
Best Music Director M. M. Keeravani
Best Male Playback Anuj Gurwara
(Panchadara Bomma)

So, you see, it really is a film that is worth seeing.  As an enticement to follow up on this, I'll leave you with Ram Charan Teja and Mumaith Khan tearing it up with some of that award winning choreography in Bangaru Kodi Petta, enjoy.
