I SAW THE DEVIL Trimmed By Seven Cuts, Not By Seven Minutes.
Just yesterday it was reported by The Korea Times that Kim Jee-woon had been forced to make seven minutes of cuts to his I Saw The Devil for the film to be cleared for wide release in Korea and very shortly afterward word became to gather that this was not accurate.

Well, today Film Biz Asia has confirmed directly with the film's producers that I Saw The Devil was required to make seven cuts to the film, with the total run time of removed material adding up to somewhere between eighty and ninety seconds. While still significant, this is nowhere near as drastic as what was originally reported ...

Since this whole drama, it just reminds me of that scene in Election 2, with Louis Koo, a large meat grinder and some dogs. Just seems similar.

I don't know if the comparatively minor nature of the cuts means we'll be more likely or less likely to see the uncut version in the US. I guess it all depends on the distributor. Shudder.
