VENICE FILM FESTIVAL 2010: A Second Trailer For Tsui Hark's DETECTIVE DEE
Freshly announced to have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, a second trailer has just arrived for Tsui Hark's epic mystery thriller Detective Dee. Starring Andy Lau as the titular investigator this one is epic in all senses, the visuals way, way, way larger than life and looking fantastic. Here's a quick synopsis:

When the mysterious deaths of a series of loyal subjects threaten to delay the 690 A.D. inauguration of Empress Wu Zetian, China's only female leader, she summons the infamous Detective Dee back from an exile into which she cast him eight years earlier.

Hark has been - to put it kindly - hit and miss in recent years but this one looks very much as though it may be the return to form that fans have been awaiting from the master.
