Well, well ... this is a surprise. Word came out a while back that J.J. Abram's company Bad Robot was in pursuit of the remake rights for stellar Swedish vampire picture Let The Right One In. And, really, Abrams has deep enough pockets and enough industry clout that it seemed like a forgone conclusion that he'd get it. But he didn't. According to the fine lads at Bloody Disgusting the remake rights have instead gone to the recently reborn Hammer Films imprint. Now, the new Hammer hasn't exactly done much to inspire confidence so the question now becomes whether this will be their big step back into respectability or a misfire that kills one stellar property? Regardless, Magnolia will be releasing the original films in North America later this year.
