DVD: Jun'ya Satô's YAMATO (OTOKO-TACHI NO YAMATO)
Universe Laser & Video Co. Ltd. released Jun'ya Satô's Yamato (Otoko-tachi no Yamato) in a 2-disc DVD set (DTS-6758-9; NTSC, region 3, Japanese & Cantonese w/ Chinese & English subtitles) in Hong Kong on September 15th; the set is available for order from ScreenAnarchy affiliate YesAsia.com (Hong Kong) Ltd.. Toei Company Ltd. (Tôei K.K.) released the movie theatrically in Japan on December 17th of last year; Toei Video Co. Ltd. (Tôei Bideo K.K.) released it on sale DVD (DSTD-02566 & DSTD-02603; NTSC, region 2, Japanese w/o subtitles) there on August 4th.
The screenplay for Yamato was written by (Jun'ya) Satô, based on Jun Henmi's non-fiction books Ketteiban otoko-tachi no Yamato (ue) and Ketteiban otoko-tachi no Yamato (shita). The movie was scored by Joe Hisaishi (Hisaishi Jô); the theme song for it, "Close Your Eyes", is by Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi.
