SLIT: Watch The New JHorror Short From SHI's Pablo Absento
If you recall this past Summer I met this absolutely charming filmmaker from Japan, Pablo Absento, at a local horror convention. We shared her previous short Shi with you not long after, a short film that the great Guillermo Del Toro reportedly lauded upon its release.

Absento has kept herself busy since Shi and began developing a new series called Japanese Legends

Everybody loves a good scary story, but the Japanese have made it an art form. Everyone is familiar with J-horror entries "The Ring" and "The Grudge", yet Japanese culture is thick with some of the most terrifying supernatural tales ever told, and we're going to tell them as never before.

The first short in the series Slit had its world premiere in San Diego at the Horrible Imaginings Horror Film Festival and debuted online on Halloween. We are pleased to be able to share Slit with you now.

The film tells about a part of a famous urban legend, which is believed to be based on true events. A strange character walking around the empty streets was terrifying locals in 70s-80s of the last century. Rumors of alleged sightings began spreading around the Nagasaki prefecture, then spread throughout Japan and caused panic in many towns.

Director’s statement:

People fear what they do not understand.

Much like our character, whose origins spawn from being a victim of violent domestic issues, overlooked by a society more concerned with image and ideals than the people who create them.

A monster to some, a reminder to others of the price we pay for apathetic attitudes towards others.

As far as the series goes since it played in San Diego the project has since caught a bit of steam. There is not much that we can share with you for the moment but Absento cannot wait to share any good news with you when she can.
