Suddenly Spike Lee is a busy man. Confirmation that Lee had been tapped to direct a US version of Oldboy hit today - a week after we reported he was negotiating to take the job - while early this morning the man took to Twitter to say this:
Wake Up. I been up since 430am. On the way to the set of THE NEW SPIKE LEE JOINT.Today is 1st Day of Shooting.Awwwwwwwwwwww Sheeeeeeeeeeeeet
What's he shooting? According to Shadow And Act the new picture is titled Red Hook Summer, the title taken from a neighborhood in Brooklyn. What will interest most, however, is that Lee will reportedly appear in front of the camera as well as handling duties behind it, reprising his role as Mookie from Do The Right Thing. Is this Lee getting back to his roots before making another stab at big budget Hollywood? It looks like it.
