TITANIC Composer James Horner Dies In Plane Crash
In a career spanning five decades, Horner had composer credits on over 150 films and TV shows, including some of the most memorable scores in recent memory. Horner worked with some of the industry's most respected directors, including James Cameron, Terrence Malick, Ron Howard, Mel Gibson, Walter Hill and many many more.
Horner was also responsible for scoring the likes of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, 48Hrs, Commando, Aliens, Willow, Red Heat, Field Of Dreams, Glory and The Rocketeer, to name just a few. Frankly speaking, if you were a movie fan growing up in the 80s and 90s it is likely that Horner scored some of the most influential and treasured films of your formative years, and was certainly one of the eras most important composers.
Horner was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, for his work on An American Tail, Aliens, Field Of Dreams, Braveheart, Apollo 13, Titanic, A Beautiful Mind, House Of Sand And Fog and Avatar, winning for Titanic's score, as well as for writing Celine Dion's monster hit, My Heart Will Go On.
As recently as this year Horner's work can be heard in Jean-Jacques Annaud's Wolf Totem and Antoine Fuqua's Southpaw. Horner was scheduled to score James Cameron's upcoming Avatar sequels, which will obviously not happen now. His epic tunes will be sorely missed.
