In this series, Brian De Palma may perhaps be a wee bit over-represented: of the six "Ultra Collector" releases so far, three have been for his films. The latest of these is The Phantom of the Paradise, and... well, Carlotta Films have outdone themselves.
Here is a gallery of shots. Click on the arrows at the edge of the pictures to scroll through them, or at the center of each to see a bigger version.
And here it is: a glorious hardcover book in a slipcase. Can I have a blacklight poster of that Matt Taylor artwork please?
The book, uncased.
As is usual with these editions, Carlotta has put the two DVDs in the front. One features the film and some extras, the other one... even more extras! Seriously, this set is loaded. There are several hours worth of documentaries on these discs.
Do note that the set is not English-friendly, and does not feature English subtitles. The original English dub is included though (both in stereo and in 5.1 remix).
The book itself is glorious, and features interviews, poster art, music sheets, lyrics, set photographs, the works! At 160 pages, it's not the thickest book in this series, but it's a damn fine one all the same...
Note that the book is in French only (bar the song lyrics).
The Blu-ray is in the back cover. Notice the "Death Records" print which is on all the discs...
The (back) end.
So far, Carlotta has released the following films as part of their "Ultra Collector" series:
01: Body Double
02: Year of the Dragon
03: Panic in Needle Park
04: Little Big Man
05: The Burbs
06: The Phantom of the Paradise
I can't wait to see which one is up next...
