BLADE RUNNER 2049: Sequel's Title Sets a Date

If you like keeping up with these kind of things the title for the Blade Runner sequel has just been announced, Blade Runner 2049

We realize this does not say much other than set the sequel thirty years after the first film. Other than that everything is super top secret.

We already know that Harrison Ford is returning, so are Ridley Scott (in a producing role) and the first film's writer Hampton Fancher. Newcomers to the sequel are Ryan Gosling and what should excite everyone the most is Denis Villeneuve (ArrivalSicario, Prisoners) who has been wowing us all throughout his career.

What do you think of the title? I immediately thought of all those future universe spin off comics that started popping up in the early 90s (Spider-Man 2099 and Punisher 2099). Or how about even earlier in the 80s when PA flicks had a year tagged onto the title (Cherry 2000 or America 3000)? Strange what you think of the moment a title is announced.

Blade Runner 2049 will hit cinemas one year from today on October 6th, 2017. The above picture was from the Blade Runner 2049 Twitter account
