"Maybe you’ve seen TimeCop, which is like Looper, starring Bruce Willis but like a million times better."
Guess who's back? Back again.
It’s no secret I’m the biggest Jean-Claude Van Damme fan in the world. If you think you have a one-up on me, meet me at the Kumite. (Caveat: Must be under 5’5’’ and weight less than 140 pounds.)
JCVD has seen glory and hell in his lifetime, and over the last few years, approaching his golden years, he’s having the time of his life.
He gained critical acclaimed for his honest, poignant portrayal of himself in the terrific JCVD (that monologue, man. Deep.) This film blew fans and critics alike away — to date, he’s the only action star to acknowledge his faults on film and show that he’s just an ordinary man with a few gnarly roundhouse kicks and splits.
He does it again with the pilot for Amazon’s Jean-Claude Van Johnson, an action comedy where JCVD acts in shitty scripts during the day and moonlights for the Black Ops at night under the code name Jean-Claude Van Johnson.
Jean-Claude Van Johnson is another brilliant step no other action star would not dare go — self-deprecating comedy, nailing excellent jokes about himself and other actions stars, all while having an apparent, complete blast doing it. He throws out the hubris and mocks his self-promotion in the pilot with JCVD soap, shampoo, and coconut water for the showers. An extremely exaggerated version of the Mussels from Brussels.
Here's where you come in.
VOTE VOTE VOTE!
This one of three shows that you can watch the pilot for free today and vote. Jean-Claude Van Johnson is the one. Here’s a few reasons why:
1) Ridley Scott is a producer.
2) Van Damme makes two incredible Timecop/Looper jokes that are brilliant, which means the writing is going to get more witty and smart and hilarious.
3) The mystery of why action heroes fought one goon at a time in a room full of baddies is explained.
4)VAN DAMME IS HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE IN THIS PILOT. Imagine what else he could bring to the table.
5)) There’s some much greatness packed into this one episode; I don’t want to give it all way. But trust me, you JCVD fans are going to eat it up.
