ALEISTER ARCANE: Eli Roth and Jim Carrey in Adaptation of Horror Comic Book

Hands up if you have sat around with your circle of friends and said, 'You know who should make a horror film together? Eli Roth... ... and Jim Carrey!'

Liars!

Yet, here we are reporting that the popular horror film director and the comedy icon will be working together on an adaptation of Steve Niles' comic book, Aleister Arcane

Wacky.

Aleister Arcane, published in 2004, told of a Los Angeles weatherman named Aleister Green who returns to his hometown to host a midnight horror show a la Elvira. Under the guise of a mad scientist named Aleister Arcane, Green performed little skits until the local sponsors balked at the gore. An incident with two kids leads to him to be put on trial, breaking his spirit, and into an early grave. Not long after, grisly activities begin to occur and only the kids have the power to thwart the curse he has laid upon their town.

The announcement over at THR's HeatVision Blog also reports that Jon Croker (The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death and In Fear) will write the screenplay.

This is not the first time Carrey has worked in horror so why should we be surprised? He recently finised working on The Bad Batch with Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home at Night). Sure, his role in Lemony Snicket counts as creepy in a childish way. Why not.
